Who are we?

Broadly Speaking members are moderate, innovative and reform minded teachers wishing to balance our acceptance of the need for accountability with the ability to exercise real influence on classroom practice. We want to ensure that we are taken seriously by the education establishment, politicians and the media by expressing reasoned, balanced and well researched views that add to a sensible discussion about education reform. We must express our own, positive agenda for reform based on our experience in the classroom and shared values of a changing society. We support the concept of teacher autonomy with sensible accountability and believe that teachers should be drivers of reform through sharing good practice and being reflective practitioners. Middle management should be the engine room of curriculum development not government ‘experts’ who have long-ago left or never been in the classroom.
